Girl Friday Productions: Freelance "cold reader" and proofreader for a book-publishing firm, scrutinizing fiction and nonfiction titles for errors in grammar, plot continuity, spelling, and formatting (2014–present).
The Guemes Tide: Volunteer editor, writer, copyeditor, and page-layout artist for a monthly community newspaper on Guemes Island (2010–2016).
Sightline Institute: Developmental editor of the Cascadia Scorecard, an influential annual assessment of the region's progress toward sustainability (2007–8).
Marquand Books: Developmental editor of First Aid for Art, an emergency handbook for librarians, curators, and other cultural professionals coping with a disaster (2006).
Long Live the Kings: Consultant to salmon-conservation group on communications strategy and writing/editing of web pages, fund-raising materials, grant applications, and the like (2004–6).
